Our conjoined twin girls Ava and Teagan were born March 15th 2011. They shared a heart and liver. They sadly passed away March 17th, 2011. We miss them dearly every single day.

Sneak peek

We had some maternity pictures done about a week and a half ago and wanted to share a few with you.  I will be putting many more up soon.  The pictures were done by http://www.bridgettemarie.com/ and she did an awesome job.  I love them all!

Nothing new

I had an appointment today and nothing new to report which is a good thing.  Babies looked good on ultrasound, my cervix was the same today as it was last week and they looked good on a non stress test.  The girl doing the ultrasound did say they have quite a bit of hair :)  I had to go to the lab today and do my 3 hour glucose test.  Not fun!  Hope I pass! We are meeting with a doctor tomorrow from the hospital where the babies will be delivered.  She will go over everything that will be done when they are born and we can tell her what we want and dont want so they have everything ready and know what to do when the time comes.  Well that is all for today.

Taking it easy

I had another doctors appointment today.  I am now 30 weeks 1 day.  The baby girls are looking good in there.  They are growing.  They are about 2lbs 5oz now.  Everything with them is ok.  I had mentioned last week how my cervical length had shortened quite a bit.  Well today my doctor actually checked my cervix and I am 1cm dilated, 90 effaced and he said my cervix is "really soft"  So for now I am to "take it easy" "be a couch potato" They also checked my blood sugar and it was slightly elevated..145...which means nothing to me because I don't know what normal is.  He said next week he might send me to do the 3 hour glucose test.  For now I'm suppose to stay away from sweets and fruits and eat more meat and veggies.  This should be fun!  Well that is all for now.  I have another appointment next Tuesday and then an appointment on Wednesday with a neonatologist at the hospital that we will be delivering the babies at.  I will update next week :)

29 weeks 1 day

I had another appt today like I do every week.  As far as the babies go they are hanging in there good :)  They didn't measure them today so not sure how big they are.  They do that every other week.  They measure my cervical length every week and it has shortened a lot since last week.  It was about 4.2cm last Tuesday and is now only 2.5cm.  It being 2.5cm (3cm-5cm is normal)  isn't really bad but the fact that it shortened so dramatically in 1 week is a little alarming.  So today I received a dose of steroids to help mature their lungs.  I go back tomorrow morning for the second dose of them.  This is in case these sweet girls decide to come soon.  My dr didn't want to take a chance that they be born soon and immature lungs be an issue so doing the shots is worth trying.  I also found out today that I of course failed my 1 hour glucose test but only by a few points.  Darn it!  I failed it with both B and B so I'm not surprised.  I always pass the 3 hour one though.  Well my dr decided that right now that is not a main concern so she didn't send me for the 3 hour test.  Next week at my appointment they will poke me and see what my blood sugar levels are.  If they are high then we will probably do the 3 hour. I hope I don't have to do that!  Well that's the news for this week.  Thanks to everyone for your continued thought and prayers.

Quick update

I went to see the cardiologist yesterday and I had an appointment today with my drs I see every week.  I had an ultrasound at both appointments.  Everything is looking "ok" as of right now.  The fluid on their lungs has decreased and there is just a little bit on each.  Good news!  The one artery that pumps to the lungs is still significantly smaller than the others and its growing slower than the others.  Both babies now weigh 2 pounds.  I don't really know when we will be delivering the babies.  One doctor said 39 weeks if we made it that far.  The other 2 say 36-37 weeks.  Honestly though nobody really knows.  Its something we take day by day.  It all just depends on what my body does and what the ultrasounds show each week.  There is a Pediatric Cardiology conference going on here this week and a doctor from some other state was in the office with the Cardiologist that I see today.  She has personally dealt with several sets of conjoined twins so she had been spending time going over all the images and videos of Ava and Teagans heart to give him her opinion.  My drs are also showing another dr that is great with fetal ultrasounds to see what he has to say.  Its always good to have many opinions.  The doctor today said the same thing my drs say....after awhile it gives you a headache because its so complicated!  Oh one more crazy thing.  So I had said how normally Baby A is always on my right and Baby B on my left.  Then last week they had flipped and Baby A was on the left and Baby B on the right.  Well yesterday at the ultrasound these crazy girls were back to their original places.  My dr just cant believe it!  She said its really astonishing that they were able to do that not once but twice!  It was funny because on Saturday night I told Jason...I think they are flipping back!  Sure enough they did!  I also did the fun glucose test today.  Hopefully I pass!  I failed the 1 hour with Brooklyn and Brayden so we will see what this time brings!
